NETWORK TEN

As a major Australian media company, with the capacity to reach all people living within its five mainland metropolitan markets, Network Ten is ideally placed to promote important community causes.

Network Ten's approach to community support is underpinned by a series of national and state partnerships. This allows the Network to fully focus its resources on causes and organisations which most closely reflect the company's values and brand qualities.

It gives us the capacity to quickly shine a spotlight on unexpected issues as they emerge. This agility was vital in our response to the Victorian bushfire crisis. The scope and intensity of the tragedy warranted an immediate response. In the days immediately following the firestorm, we produced and aired a series of community service announcements promoting the national fundraising effort. At a local level, employees raised much-needed funds for the bushfire appeal, donated blood for the injured and contributed auction items for fundraising events.

On TEN, the Network has taken a multi-tiered approach to community, focusing on issues that are of most relevance. Each year, TEN supports four national partners, a range of national support causes, as well as several state-based campaigns. Throughout the year, TEN has donated air time valued at $31.5 million to promote important causes through community service announcements.

National Partners receive significant support including air time for community service announcements, involvement of Network talent as community ambassadors, support for fundraising events and promotions, editorial segments within Network programs, and in-kind support including script writing, filming and editing assistance for the production of community service announcements.

NATIONAL COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Headspace
TEN's successful three-year national partnership with Camp Quality came to a conclusion this year. To ensure the continuing relevance of our portfolio of National Partners, we surveyed staff about their community priorities. Overwhelmingly, our employees voted to support a mental health services provider.

With its focus on providing mental health services for people aged 12-25, Headspace is a natural fit for TEN and its audience. TEN's partnership with Headspace includes editorial within Network programs, support for fundraising and promotional events, community service air time, involvement of Network talent as Headspace ambassadors and technical support for community service campaigns.

Australian Conservation Foundation
TEN joined forces with the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) in 2008 and has since provided support for ACF's "Who on Earth Cares" campaign with CSA air time, segments on 9am with David and Kim, access to TEN's environmental ambassadors and production advice for an upcoming campaign. The ACF is also one of TEN's Environmental Partners, featuring on the Network's "Making Your Mark" website.

CARE Australia
Over the last 12 months, TEN has supported four CARE Australia campaigns: the emergency response campaign, CARE's gift catalogue, Learn For Life, and its annual fundraising appeal. TEN has produced three community service announcements for CARE Australia, featuring Australian Idol host, Andrew Gunsberg. TEN also took part in the CARE Corporate Cycle Challenge, where a team of TEN employees helped raise funds for CARE and in return had the chance to visit CARE projects in Laos. The volunteers also donated their time and expertise to produce a new promotional video to promote CARE Australia's corporate-community partnership program.

Cancer Council
TEN joined forces with the Cancer Council in 2008. Since then, TEN has promoted major Cancer Council campaigns including the Skin Cancer Awareness Week, Daffodil Day and Australia's Biggest Morning Tea. TEN produced a community service announcement featuring the Bondi Rescue lifeguards to launch the Daredallion campaign promoting awareness of men's cancers.

NATIONAL SUPPORT CAUSES

This level of partnership gives community organisations the opportunity to partner with TEN on one major campaign each year. This year, TEN has supported four national support causes including the MS Society, the Leukaemia Foundation, National Literacy and Numeracy Week and National Youth Week.

Environmental Partners
Network Ten continues its support of vital conservation and environment work around Australia by supporting the Australian Conservation Foundation, Planet Ark, Coastcare and the Australian Youth Climate Coalition with community service announcements.

ONE

ONE has taken a distinct approach to its community portfolio. Launching a new channel has presented an opportunity to build a community strategy from the ground up. Throughout the year, we have formulated a strategy that fits ONE's unique brand and audience.

The strategy will focus on partnerships with ONE's principal sponsors and explores opportunities to help them build and strengthen their relationships with their own support causes by offering their partners valuable on-air and online exposure.
